CADPower Commands

Copy and Move Part of a Polyline: CP_PARTCOPY – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_PARTCOPY command in CADPower allows you to copy and move a specific portion of a polyline. After selecting two points on the polyline, the segments between these points are copied, and a new polyline is created. You can then move this copied polyline to a new location within the drawing. CADPower -> Polyline Tools -> Part Editing -> Copy (and move) part of a polyline Note that this command cannot be used with polylines that have been curve-fitted using the Fit or Spline options. Additionally, if there are any arc segments within the selected portion, they will be replaced with straight line segments in the copied polyline. This tool is ideal for extracting and repositioning parts of polylines efficiently.

Extract part of a Polyline: CP_PARTEXTRACT – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_PARTEXTRACT command in CADPower allows you to extract a portion of a polyline by selecting two points along it. The segments between the two picked points will be extracted and a new polyline will be created on the current layer. This is especially helpful for isolating specific parts of a polyline for further editing or analysis. CADPower -> Polyline Tools -> Part Editing -> Extract part of polyline Note that this command does not work with polylines that have been curve-fitted using the Fit or Spline options. Additionally, any arc segments within the polyline will be replaced by straight line segments when the new polyline is created. This ensures precision when handling linear portions of complex polylines.

Tweak a Polyline Vertex: CP_TWEAKPOLY – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_TWEAKPOLY command in CADPower allows you to tweak or pinch out a new vertex from an existing polyline, providing a unique method for editing polylines. Unlike grip-editing, which only lets you move existing vertices. This command creates and pulls out a new vertex at the selected location, giving you more control over the polyline’s shape. CADPower-> Polyline-> Vertex Management-> Tweak a polyline vertex It’s especially useful when you need to adjust the geometry by adding a new point, without affecting the existing vertices, making it a precise and efficient tool for reshaping polylines.

Specify a new start point for closed polylines: CP_NEWSTART – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_NEWSTART command in CADPower allows you to redefine the start point of a closed polyline without altering its geometry. By selecting a new point along the polyline, the nearest vertex to that point becomes the new start and the polyline is restructured accordingly. CADPower-> Polyline-> Vertex Management-> Specify a new start point for closed polylines This is particularly useful when working with closed polylines where the start point is important for operations like path-based tools or when adjusting how the polyline is processed in certain workflows. The command ensures that the polyline’s overall shape remains unchanged while updating its start point.

Multiple Vertex Editor: CP_MVEDIT – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_MVEDIT command in CADPower is a powerful tool for editing multiple vertex positions on selected polylines, lines, and arcs. It allows you to move multiple vertices simultaneously in various directions—X, Y, Z, XY, YZ, XZ, or XYZ—while keeping other coordinates unchanged. CADPower-> Polyline-> Vertex Management-> Multiple Vertex Editor This command acts similarly to XYZ point filters in AutoCAD and BricsCAD but is applied across multiple objects and points at once. The command provides several vertex-editing options, including: With dynamic, on-screen movement and real-time feedback, the command allows you to see the impact of changes graphically. This makes it ideal for tasks like proximity, area and size simulations. Additionally, the command includes a ‘Reverse’ option for fine-tuning adjustments, enabling you to toggle back and forth between changes until the perfect geometry is achieved.

Delete Single Vertex Polylines: CP_DELSVP – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_DELSVP command in CADPower allows you to delete single vertices or zero-length polylines from selected objects. Unlike the CP_0LEN2PNT command, which replaces zero-length polylines with points. CADPower-> Polyline-> Vertex Management-> Delete single vertex polylines CP_DELSVP command completely removes these unwanted elements from the drawing. This tool is particularly useful for cleaning up unnecessary geometry in your CAD drawings, helping to maintain a streamlined and efficient file by eliminating redundant vertices and zero-length polylines that may clutter the design.

Add / Remove Redundant Closing Vertex in Polylines: CP_FIXCLOSED – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_FIXCLOSED command in CADPower is used to manage redundant vertices in closed polylines by adding or removing the last vertex based on your needs. This command is particularly useful when dealing with closed polylines that may or may not have a duplicated first and last vertex. CADPower-> Polyline-> Vertex Management-> Add / Remove redundant closing vertex in polylines This command helps in refining and ensuring proper closure of polylines, making it ideal for accurate geometric edits and cleanup in CAD designs.

Place Points/Blocks along Vertices: CP_PL_PLACE – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_PL_PLACE command in CADPower allows you to place a point or a block at each vertex of a polyline or line, making it highly useful for mapping, utility applications and precise vertex marking. CADPower-> Polyline-> Vertex Management-> Place Points/Blocks along vertices You can choose what to place: You can also control where the points or blocks are placed by selecting from options like All Vertices, First Vertex Only, Last Vertex Only, or First and Last Vertices Only, giving you flexibility in how and where the placements occur. This tool is especially handy for adding markers or objects along polylines for mapping, infrastructure, or design tasks.

Weed (Remove) collinear vertices from Polyline: CP_REM_LINVERTS – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_REM_LINVERTS command in CADPower allows you to remove redundant or unnecessary linear vertices from a polyline, helping to simplify and clean up the geometry. CADPower-> Polyline-> Vertex Management-> Weed (Remove) collinear vertices from Polyline An optional feature of this command lets you mark the locations of the removed vertices with points. By checking the “Mark locations of removed vertices with points” option, points are automatically placed at the positions where vertices were deleted. Making it easier to track changes and review the original structure. This is especially useful when refining polylines or preparing them for further modifications, ensuring precision while maintaining a visual record of adjustments.

Densify Vertices: CP_DENSIFY – CADPower Command

Summary The CP_DENSIFY command in CADPower is a versatile tool that allows you to add extra vertices to both 2D and 3D polylines, enhancing their flexibility for detailed editing and manipulation. CADPower-> Polyline-> Vertex Management-> Densify Vertices This command offers two methods to densify polylines: This tool is especially useful for refining the shape of polylines, making it easier to modify curves, smooth out geometry or prepare for further operations like surface modeling or contour editing.
